Supreme Court Hears 1898 “White Supremacy Constitutional Convention” Standard of Non-Unanimous Conviction

Black in Louisiana

Supreme Court on Wednesday heard a 1898 “White Supremacy Constitutional Convention” Standard of Non-Unanimous Conviction that was overturned 2 months ago by the US Supreme Court. The current case is to determine if the verdict should be retroactive. The “for profit’ prison system is at risk of losing money. LA does not let anyone go or respect the previous decision without more supreme court cases. 80 percent of the 1500 people affected were jailed without a sluging lawyer. Are they kidding? These ‘Private For Profit Prisons’ have hired great lobbyists.

In the 1898 Constitutional Convention 2 LA and OR created a criminal standard that they stated was to “establish the supremacy of the white race.”

Two years ago LA residents voted to end non-unanimous jury verdicts. Six months ago the Supreme Court found the law unconstitutional but more than 1500 people remain locked up on Bogus verdicts.

Still, 1500 people, 80% Black, are in jail in Louisiana based on non-unanimous verdicts where there were dissenting jurors. 68% of the people in jail in LA are Black.
